CE 10: Continued researching for the Biblical Figure assignment. We'll continue after Christmas.

ELA A10: Finished watching the film of The Miracle Worker. Tomorrow you need to hand in the Viewing Questions and the Individual Assignment.

Health 8: Discussed the Body Image and Self-Esteem research booklet and handed in. We did a Christmas activity for the rest of the period.

ELA B30: Work period for your "I am Canadian" poem. You'll work a little bit more on it tomorrow and then we'll finish it after Christmas. A reminder to those who have not yet handed in their Map of Canada - please do so tomorrow!

ELA 9: Last work period for your Christmas Traditions presentation. A few people presented today, and the rest will present tomorrow!

ELA A30/History 30: Discussed Unit 1 Guiding Questions. Read and discussed "Only in Canada" and "You know you're from Canada when..." in the duotang. Watched the video of the "I am Canadian" commercial. Tomorrow you'll work on the assignment that goes with it. Remember that those who have not handed in their Map of Canada must do so by Friday.

ELA 9: Continued working on the Christmas Traditions assignment. You'll have tomorrow to finish and you'll present either tomorrow or Friday.

ELA A10: The Miracle Worker - both groups did their oral presentations, and then we started watching the film. We'll continue watching tomorrow. Remember the individual assignment is due on Friday.

Health 8: Last work period for the "Body Image and Self-Esteem" research assignment. We'll discuss it tomorrow and you'll hand it in.

History 30/ELA A30: Last work period for the Map of Canada. Those who did not finish need to do so by Friday. Tomorrow we will look at the Guiding Questions for Unit I in ELA.

ELA 9: Researched for the "Christmas Around the World" assignment. You'll continue tomorrow. Keep in mind that this needs to be presented before the holidays.

ELA A10: Finished reading The Miracle Worker in groups and worked on the group presentation. You'll have time to prepare tomorrow and then you'll present before the end of the period.

CE/Health 8: CE - discussed 6.1 (all 4 sections) and handed in. Health - continued the research on Body Image and Self-Esteem. Tomorrow you should finish the online research and then continue the research in the textbook.

ELA A10: Continued reading The Miracle Worker. Both groups should finish on Monday and then you will work on the assignments.

CE 10: Did the "Tell Them From Me" Survey.

CE/Health 8: Since many people forgot to bring their CE 6.1 booklets, we will discuss them and hand in on Monday. Started the next Health unit on "Body Image and Self-Esteem" with a research assignment. We will correct CE and then continuing researching on Monday.

ELA B30: Finished the Final Exam!! Also handed in the Self-Assessment. On Monday we will begin ELA A30 and History 30.

ELA 9: Discussed the Bible stories that relate to "Why the Sea is Salt". Read two other Pourquoi Tales ("How the Bear Lost His Tail" and "How Grandmother Spider Stole the Sun") and did a summarizing activity in partners. Then we started discussing the Christmas Traditions research assignment that we will start on Monday.

ELA A10: Continued reading The Miracle Worker in small groups.

CE 8: Worked on 6.1 Application and Action. Anyone who did not finish in class has until Friday. Tomorrow we will be in the computer lab for the "Tell Them From Me" Survey.  On Friday, we will discuss and you will hand in all sections of 6.1. Then we are moving on to Health and starting a unit on Body Image and Self-Esteem, so bring your Health stuff.

ELA B30: Handed back Global Social Issues Inquiry Project evaluations. Reviewed the Word Choice and Sentence Fluency booklets. Watched a video of Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech and discussed. Reviewed the Unit 2 Guiding Questions. Final Exam tomorrow and Friday!

ELA 9: Handed back the Trickster assignment. Started looking at "Pourquoi" Tales: wrote some notes, then wrote a story about "Why the Sea is Salt". Some shared their stories. We will share the rest tomorrow and then read the real story to see how it compares.

Created the assignment and assessment criteria for the Biblical Figure Research Assignment (which will be a poster). You'll start researching next class. CE 8: Finished correcting the Advent booklet together and handed in. Started working on Unit 6: We believe in the resurrection of the body, looking at our bodies and the analogy of a car (6.1 Experience).

ELA B30: Worked a little bit on the Word Choice Booklet and also had another presentation of a Global Social Issues Project.  The rest of the time was spent preparing for your in-class essay. Tomorrow is your last day to prepare and then you write your essay on Friday!

ELA 9: Started working on the Trickster Stories Group Activity, which we'll continue next class. Remember that those who have not yet handed in the re-done draft of their Creation stories paragraph must do so tomorrow.

ELA A10: Worked on the Questioning Activity with the short story "The Michelle I Know". We'll finish tomorrow and then start looking at the play "The Miracle Worker". On Friday we will spend the first half of class working on the play and then you will have the rest of the period to work on your Independent Novel Study. Remember that I will be doing a homework check for one activity.

CE 8: We had a shortened class due to the Reconciliation celebration. We put up your Unit 1 Collages in the hallway, then started correcting the Advent booklet. We'll finish tomorrow and then start a new unit.

CE 10: Watched a video and discussed Reconciliation in preparation for tomorrow. Discussed ideas for our Advent project - I will check with Sr. Mary and let you know. Homework checked and corrected the first six pages of the Bible Searches booklet - worked on the last two pages, which need to be completed for Thursday.  Think about which Bible character you may want to research.

ELA A10: Handed out the evaluation sheet for your Independent Novel Study. Finished discussing the Guiding Questions for Unit II. Discussed Bible stories that feature challenges. Handed out the sheet for the questioning activity tomorrow with the short story "The Michelle I Know".

CE 8: Last work period for the Advent booklet - we will correct it tomorrow.

ELA B30: Discussed the end of A Thousand Splendid Suns - your in-class essay is on Friday.  You will have some time tomorrow and Thursday to prepare your outline. Had another Global Social Issues Project presentation. Work a little on the Word Choice Booklet. Also discussed what will be on the Final Exam next week (Thursday and Friday).

ELA 9: Went through the questions for Brother Bear and rewrote in complete sentences.  A reminder that the final draft of your Creation stories paragraph is due on Thursday. Tomorrow you will start working on your group assignment for the Trickster stories.

ELA A10: Handed back your Unsolved Mysteries Project evaluation - great work! Started Unit II - The Challenges of Life by looking at the Guiding Questions. We'll finish discussing tomorrow.

CE 8: Handed in Unit 1 Collage. Watched a video and discussed Reconciliation in preparation for the celebration on Wednesday.  Continued working on the Advent booklet - you'll have tomorrow to finish it and we will correct on Wednesday, so take it home if one more class won't be enough time.

ELA A10: The last group presented their Unsolved Mysteries Project. Had a wrap-up discussion of the Unit I Guiding Questions. The rest of the period was work time for your Independent Novel Study - remember that you need to show me one activity by next Friday. On Monday we will be starting the second unit, "The Challenges of Life".

CE 8: Started working on Advent activities (video, booklet) which we will continue on Monday. Remember that your Unit 1 Collage is due on Monday.

ELA B30: A Thousand Splendid Suns - discussed Chapters 41-45; please finish the novel for Tuesday. In-class essay date is still looking like next Friday, and the final exam dates (you'll write it over two days) are tentatively December 10th and 11th (Thursday-Friday). The rest of the class was work time for either your Global Social Issues Project or your novel/essay. On Monday we will start presenting your projects.

ELA 9: Started working on Trickster stories: Wrote some notes and read "The Blindfold Dance" together. Started preparing for a group activity on the other Trickster stories - chose group and stories. Tomorrow we'll discuss the activity and you'll start working.

ELA A10: Had another Unsolved Mysteries presentation and spent the rest of the period working on your Independent Novel Studies. Tomorrow we'll have the last presentation, have a quick look back at the Guiding Questions for Unit I, and then you'll have a little more time to work on your Novel Study. Monday we will be starting Unit II.

Friday we will be wrapping up Unit I and starting Unit II.

CE 8: We will be working on CE for awhile, so no Health right now. Work period for the Unit 1 Collage. Tomorrow will be another work period, and possibly Wednesday depending on how well you use your time tomorrow.

CE 8: Finished all parts of 1.4 together and handed in. Watched a summary video on the Holy Spirit. Next week you will be working on the final project for this unit which will be a collage.

CE 10: Corrected the "Finding Your Way Around the Bible" assignment together. Discussed the "Where to Look in the Bible" and "Different Views: How the Bible Was Written" booklet. Worked on the Bible searches booklet, which you will continue next class.

Just a heads up - there will be a test at the end of this unit, likely part of it will be open book and part of it will not. Also, I am planning on having you do a small research assignment on one of the people in the Bible searches booklet after you finish it, so think about who you might be interested in learning more about.

ELA A10: Finished the research process for your Unsolved Mysteries projects and some started working on their Glogs. You'll have 2-3 periods to create your Glog and prepare your presentation.

Health 8: Handed in research booklet on "Canadian History and Legislation on the Family". Wrote final test on Unit 2: Healthy Family Relationships. Next week we will start a new unit!

ELA B30: A Thousand Splendid Suns - Submitted Character Sketches, discussed Chapters 22-26, handed out and discussed the outline booklet for your in-class essay. Please read Chapters 27-34 for Monday and start planning out your essay.

ELA B30: Started the "Global Social Issues Group Inquiry Research Project" - explained the project, chose groups and topics. We also did an activity about creating meaningful inquiry questions, and some groups created their inquiry focus questions. You'll start researching on Wednesday. For tomorrow, be sure that you have read Chapters 16-21 of A Thousand Splendid Suns.

ELA 9: Finish the practice comparison/contrast paragraph. Tomorrow you'll work on the final paragraph on two of the creation stories.

ELA A10: Did an activity about creating meaningful inquiry questions, and then worked on creating inquiry questions for your "Unsolved Mysteries" project. Tomorrow you'll start researching.

ELA A10: Work period for Unsolved Mysteries Group Inquiry Multimedia Project.

Health 8: Discussed "Canadian History and Legislation on the Family" research. Also discussed the articles on Family Discrimination. This brings us to the end of the unit - on Tuesday we will do a review Jeopardy together and your test will be on Thursday.

ELA B30: Handed back the letters you wrote yesterday and discussed. A Thousand Splendid Suns: discussed the rest of Part 1 questions and looked at the themes sheet. Start thinking about choosing one of those topics for your in-class essay at the end of the novel study and write down ideas, quotations, etc. that relate to the topic - this will help you immensely when we get to the end. Please read Chapters 16-21 for Tuesday. Also, don't forget about your Character Sketches - I want that sheet handed in by the end of next week.

ELA B30: Did Page 2 of the Word Choice Booklet (Interesting Adjectives). Read and discussed the poem "The Cry of the Children", and then did a timed writing activity to write a letter to the government based on the letter (it was handed in at the end of class). Make sure that Part 1 of A Thousand Splendid Suns is done for tomorrow.

ELA 9: Started working on the practice booklet for Comparison/Contrast Paragraphs - please make sure that the questions (1-6) on the model paragraphs are ready to be discussed tomorrow.

ELA A10: Handed back and discussed "1800 College Avenue" and "Red Tail and the Windigo" assignments. Started working on Unsolved Mysteries Group Inquiry Multimedia Project - explained assignment, chose groups and topics. You'll start working on your Inquiry Questions and research tomorrow.

Health 8: Last work period in the computer lab for "Canadian History and Legislation on the Family" research. Those who did not finish need to do so for next class' discussion (next Friday). Those who finished started reading the articles on Family Discrimination - you will get more time to work on this.

ELA B30: A Thousand Splendid Suns - discussed Chapters 1-5 Questions. We read Chapters 6 and 7 (up to page 50) together. Please read to the end of Part 1 (page 104) for next Friday.

ELA 9: Discussed the graphic organizer for comparing the creation stories. Watched the videos about the Norse creation story and added to the graphic organizer. Next week you'll start working on a comparative paragraph of two of the stories.

ELA A10: Went to the library to speed date with novels for your Independent Novel Study. There were snacks. Mrs. C is the best, isn't she?

CE 8: Finished 1.3 on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and handed in. Started working on 1.4 "How do I know I'm on the right track?", including the webs and the Human Knot activity.

ELA A10 (2 periods): Handed in "Red Tail and the Windigo" Story Board assignment. Read the ghost story "1800 College Avenue" aloud and answered listening questions. Read the poem "The Legend of Qu'Appelle Valley" and discussed rhyme scheme, literary devices, tone, and mood. Discussed Independent Novel Study - tomorrow we will go to the library to "speed date" and choose novels.

Health 8: Continued research in the lab on Canadian History and Legislation on the Family. You'll get one more period in the lab on Friday.

ELA B30: Finished reading the articles on Afghanistan and discussed. Discussed some assignments for A Thousand Splendid Suns: Questions, Character Sketches, Themes Page which will lead to an in-class Essay at the end of the novel. Read Chapter 1 together. Please read Chapters 2-5 for Friday.

ELA B30: Finished reviewing Unit I Guiding Questions - these would be good to hang onto for your Final Exam. Discussed Unit II Guiding Questions. Started reading a booklet about Afghanistan and filling out a graphic organizer as an intro to our novel study, A Thousand Splendid Suns.

ELA 9: Worked on creation stories - reading and filling out a graphic organizer. We'll continue on Thursday. Have fun at "Take Your Kid to Work Day" tomorrow!

ELA A10: Read a myth called "Red Tail and the Windigo" and did a StoryBoard sheet. Those who did not finish in class - please finish for tomorrow.

CE 8: Worked on 1.3 Action section. Please have it finished for next class.

CE 10/ELA A10: We spent both periods presenting your CE projects. We will make up the missed ELA period on Wednesday.

Health 8: Handed back Family Roles and Responsibilities. Worked in the computer lab on Canadian History and Legislation on the Family. We will continue in the lab next class.

ELA B30: Handed in Literacy Portfolios and a few people presented their Hamlet Verbal-Visual Essays. Those who did not hand in/present have the next couple of days to do so in order to get the marks in for Progress Reports. Tomorrow we will begin our second unit.

ELA 9: Discussed familiar Bible stories and watched the video of "The Storytelling Stone". We will start working on creation stories tomorrow.

ELA A10: Finish Choral Poetry and presented to the class - great job! The rest of the class work was work time for your Literacy Portfolios. Tomorrow will also be work time, and they are due on Monday. Friday we will move on to other things.

Health 8: Handed back Family Structures analysis. Continued Family Roles and Responsibilities in small groups. You'll finish the groups and individual sections next class - be sure to bring something to do for when you're done.

CE 10: Finished the class discussion parts of Theme 3 in Christ and Culture. The next couple of classes will be to finish that booklet and work on your "My Story" Project (to be presented on either Oct 29th or Nov 3rd).

ELA A10: Finished discussing The Chrysalids Chapter Questions and Themes. Your test is on Tuesday. You also need to show me your vocab when it is done. Started working on Group Choral Poetry assignment - learned what Choral Poetry is, chose groups and poems. Tomorrow you will work in your groups.

Health 8: Created skits on various family structures. A few groups presented; the rest will next class.

ELA B30: Read part of Hamlet Act V, Scene ii. We'll finish tomorrow and then you'll have time to work on upcoming assignments: Reading Log, Critique Essay, Verbal-Visual Essay, Literacy Portfolio.

ELA 9: Continued working on Autobiography PowerPoints in the lab. You'll have 2 or 3 more periods to finish.

ELA A10: Finished reading The Chrysalids.  Have the Chapter 16 and 17 questions done to discuss tomorrow - we'll also discuss themes and other important things to know for your test next Tuesday.

CE 8: Worked on 1.2 Application (writing a story about using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit) and Action sheet - the Action section requires you to use one of your gifts this week and record what you did - due Wednesday, October 28th (you also need to hand in your 1.2 Experience/Information booklet on that day). Those who finished the Application section started working on 1.3 Experience.

CE 10: Continued Christ and Culture Unit 1, did Theme 3 up to #4 and started #5. Handed out the assignment sheet and rubric for the final project - start working on it!

ELA A10: The Chrysalids - discussed Chapters 14 and 15; started reading 16 together. We'll finish reading 16 and 17 tomorrow. We also decided on a final test date - it will be next Tuesday, November 3rd.

Health 8: Finished discussing the Family Structure analysis. Next class you will do group skits on various family structures.

ELA B30: Handed out a revised rubric for your Novel Critique, which is due next Tuesday! Read Act IV, Scene vi of Hamlet and worked on Character Committees. You'll have time tomorrow to finish working and then we'll present and move on to Act V!

ELA B30: We discussed the Literacy Portfolio assignment. Start thinking about it - it will be due in a couple of weeks before Progress Reports.  Read Act IV, Scenes v and vi and worked on Character Committees. Handed in Reading Logs.

ELA 9: Handed in Mother Teresa biography questions. Finished questions for Craig Kielburger's biography and handed in. Start working on Autobiography PowerPoint - writing out a plan and some went to the computer lab to start the PowerPoint. Those who did not finish their outline need to have that ready for Monday.

ELA A10: Reminder - Chapters 14 and 15 of The Chrysalids for Monday. Finished typing your The Feeling of Power Film Reviews and submitted. Discussed the Literacy Portfolio assignment. Start thinking about it - it will be due in a couple of weeks before Progress Reports.

CE 8: 1.2 Info - shared the symbols for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that you created. Read the story "Strong Enough" in your textbook and analyzed the gifts in it. Please finish reading the article and filling in the web for next class (you'll be handing in the entire booklet).

CE 10: Christ and Culture Unit 1 - Finished Theme 2 questions as well as Theme 3 #1-2. Handed in booklets. Start thinking about your final project for this unit - a creative representation of "My (Your) Story".

ELA A10: The Chrysalids - discussed Chapters 12 and 13. Read Chapters 14 and 15 for Monday. We are getting close to the end of the novel - your final assessment will be an exam in about two weeks. Tomorrow you will have 20 minutes in the computer lab to finish typing your The Feeling of Power film reviews, and then we are moving on to something new.

Health 8: Finished Family Structures Analysis in small groups and started sharing as a class. We'll continue next class.

ELA B30: Hamlet - read Act IV, Scenes iii and iv and worked on Reading Logs. This is the end of the third set of scenes, so tomorrow at the end of class I want your Reading Logs handed in. We'll finish Act IV tomorrow.

ELA B30: Hamlet: Handed back Readings Logs. Handed in Character Webs - I looked at them during class and handed them back and we discussed missing parts (especially Polonius' relationship to King Hamlet and Claudius as well as the character of Fortinbras and Fortinbras Jr.). Finished preparing and presented group analysis of Shakespeare's writing style - well done! This is exactly the process of analysis that is needed for your Independent Novel Study & Critique...speaking of which, the rest of the period was spent working on that. Please remember that for Wednesday, you need to have at least one paragraph ready to show me with 2-3 questions for me that we will discuss in a one-on-one conference (use the sheet that I gave you). On Tuesday we start Act IV of Hamlet.

ELA 9: Worked on poems - rough draft, peer feedback, typing final draft. I also gave out a sheet on literary devices to help you include those in your poem. A few people finished and handed in their poems - those who did not finish will get 15 minutes of class time on Tuesday.

ELA A10: Finished sharing the last discussion topic for The Chrysalids from yesterday. Worked on rough copies of your "The Feeling of Power" film review - those who did not finish in class need to hand it in on Tuesday so that I can get it back to you to type on Wednesday. I also finished the one-on-one check-ins for The Chrysalids with everyone who was here. Remember: Chapter 11 for Tuesday.

CE 8: 1.1 Application - discussed Activity 8 and the questions on the Holy Spirit information pages. Finished the Action section (writing the prayer) and handed in the booklet. Started Section 1.2 "Am I Strong Enough?" Worked on the Experience section and started the Information section. We'll continue next class.

CE 10: Continued Unit 1 in Christ and Culture. Finished Theme 1 (Questions 1-7) and handed in.

ELA A10: The Chrysalids: Homework checked and discussed Chapters 9 and 10 Questions and Vocab. Had a small-group discussion about four important aspects of the novel - we'll discuss the last question as a class tomorrow. Chapter 11 for Tuesday.

Health 8: Continued working on Family Structures Analysis - discussed/wrote down definitions together and then began analysis in groups of 4. We'll continue next class.

ELA B30: Independent Novel Study & Critique: handed out and discussed the Teacher Feedback from that we will use in a one-on-one conference next Wednesday. You need to have at least one paragraph written so that you can choose a paragraph and 2-3 questions to ask me for feedback. We extended the final due date for your critique to Tuesday, October 27th.

 Hamlet: Read Act III, Scene iv. Handed in Readings Logs for evaluation #2. Tomorrow you will finish preparing and present your group analysis of writing style. After we finished the group presentations you'll have the rest of the time to work on your critique essay.

ELA 9: Finished and presented Choral Poetry. Started talking about writing a poem about a special place that you like to be. Think about ideas and you'll write tomorrow.

ELA B30: Hamlet - Reminder that your Character Webs are due by Friday. We read Act III, Scenes ii and iii together, then worked in groups on your writing style analysis presentation. For tomorrow I would like you to hand in your Reading Logs for the second set of five scenes (at the end of the period). Also, remember that your Independent Novel Study & Critique due date is quickly approaching! For next week I would like to see at least one paragraph so that I can give you some feedback.

ELA 9: Worked on choral poetry presentation. Tomorrow you'll have a little more time to prepare and then we'll present.

ELA A10: Reminder that Chapters 9 and 10 of The Chrysalids are due tomorrow. Worked on the rough copy of your review of the film for "The Feeling of Power". By the end of class on Friday I would like your rough copies handed in for formative assessment. I also met with a few people for an oral check-in to make sure you're understanding The Chrysalids - I will hopefully meet with the rest of you on Friday.

CE 8: Worked on 1.1 Application section - Activity 8 on evaluating expectations, the two information pages and questions about the Holy Spirit, and the Action section to write a prayer. ELA B30: We missed most of our two periods for the Thanksgiving Celebration, so in the time we had left we just worked on Act II Reading Logs and Character Web. I would like your Character Webs by Friday. You also handed in your letters to Hamlet today. We start Act III tomorrow!

ELA 9: Handed back narrative paragraphs. Read the poem "LovethisLife" and discussed. Started discussing choral poetry and watched a video of one. We'll start working on a choral poetry group assignment tomorrow.

CE 10: Discussed Personal Quizzes and Inspirational Stories booklets. Started working on Unit I about humanity in the Christ and Culture textbook - read the first page and answered the first two questions. We'll continue next week - we miss Friday's class to practice the music for Monday's celebration.

ELA A10: The Chrysalids - discussed Chapters 4 and 5. Discussed the Fringes people as marginalized voices (added "marginalized" to vocab) - assignment is to create a Fringes person character and write a letter to the inspector of Waknuk asking to be let back into the town. Finish this letter and Chapter 6 for Friday. Reminder that the Story Elements graphic organizer for "The Feeling of Power" must be handed in by tomorrow.

Health 8: Last work period for Unit 1 Final Assessment: Ideal Support Person. Due Friday.

ELA A10: Handed back "The Open Window" graphic organizer. Read science fiction short story "The Feeling of Power" individually and worked on summarizing and question sheet. Please finish for Tuesday. You also have the option to do a graphic organizer for "The Feeling of Power" to improve your mark from "The Open Window" - this will only be accepted until Thursday. Also remember that The Chrysalids Chapters 1-3 (reading, questions, vocab) are due Monday.

CE 10: Continued working on Personal Quizzes Booklet and Inspirational Stories booklet. Monday will be your last class to work on these and then they are due on Wednesday.

ELA A10: Read Chapter 1 of The Chrysalids. Read Chapters 2 and 3, as well as do questions and vocab (one word per chapter) for Monday.

Health 8: Handed in "Effective Support People: Functions" sheet. Researched community supports for your chosen health issue in the computer lab. We'll share what you found on Monday.

ELA B30: Started Hamlet!! Started a KWL chart and watched a short bio video on Shakespeare. Discussed Reading Log and Themes & Tragic Flaw sheet. Started reading Act I, Scene i. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: No class today since you were gone to PARTY. Tomorrow we'll continue with the booklet on writing a narrative paragraph. Make sure the "Unity in the Narrative Paragraph" page is done.

ELA B30: We missed our first class for the celebration. Handed back "Beowulf" assignment - good job! Finished rough draft of Identity Formation paragraph and handed in for formative assessment. Worked on Independent Novel Study.

ELA 9: Started working on a booklet about writing a narrative paragraph. Please finish the "Unity in the Narrative Paragraph" activity for Friday - we miss our class tomorrow while you're gone to PARTY.

ELA A10: Admit slip on denotation/connotation and "The Raven" - great job! Handed back Eye-witness accounts. Started looking at the background info on "The Chrysalids" - please finish reading it for tomorrow. I'll be asking: What is a chrysalid?

CE 8: Homework checked and went through question sheets on Pentecost. Read the story "Great Expectations" together and discussed. Put together groups for a skit activity about Pentecost - we'll start working on them next class.

CE 10: Continued working on Personal Quizzes booklet. Some finished and started Inspirational Stories booklet. We'll continue next class.

ELA A10: Handed in Writing Notebooks after Bell Work. Continued "The Raven": finished Denotation and Connotation sheet. Listened to a recording of the poem and discussed symbolism.

Health 8: Finished presenting Helping vs. Enabling skits. Discussed formal vs. informal types of supports. Started discussing a short research assignment on Community Supports. On Thursday we will pick groups and topics and then go to the computer lab to research.

ELA B30: Handed in Writing Notebooks after Bell Work. Continued working on paragraphs on Identity Formation. Tomorrow you will have one period (we miss the first period for the celebration) to finish and hand in your rough drafts and work on your Independent Novel Study.

ELA  9: Handed back Acceptance Comic Strips. Read "Kath and Mouse" from Crossroads together and discussed. Also read the story of Zacchaeus from the Bible and made connections. Tomorrow we'll start looking at writing a narrative paragraph about inclusion.

ELA B30: Handed in "Beowulf" assignment. "Uncle Sam" assignment was returned to you. Handed out a reference booklet for writing style to help you with your novel critique. Looked at some images and completed a sheet of analysis questions and handed in. Started working on writing a paragraph about identity formation - we'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: History Quilts were returned to you - you can keep them. We shared your "Acceptance" comic strips and then handed them in. We started having a discussion about bullying and made a word web together. We will be reading a story in Crossroads tomorrow.

ELA A10: Handed in "The Open Window" story elements sheet. Started "The Raven": watched a short bio video of Edgar Allan Poe and worked on a worksheet about Denotation and Connotation. Please finish this sheet (the paragraph at the bottom) for tomorrow.

CE 8: Handed back Prayer Booklets and 1.1 Experience booklets. You will use your Prayer Booklets for morning prayer in your classroom. Worked on 1.1 Information booklet on Pentecost. The two question sheets on Pentecost need to be finished for next class.

ELA A10: Finished Eye-witness accounts and handed in. Worked independently on reading the short story "The Open Window" and filling out the Short Story Graphic Organizer. Please finish for Monday (this one is for marks!).

Health 8: Finished prepping Helping vs. Enabling skits. A few groups presented - the rest will present next class.

ELA B30: Read the poem "The Enemy" together and discussed questions. Started reading "Beowulf" - assignment is to fill out a Character Web about Beowulf and a Story Trail. We'll finish tomorrow and you'll have any time left over to work on your Independent Novel Study.

ELA 9: Handed back History Quilts evaluation - Quilts will be posted in the hallway. Discussed questions about self-image and acceptance. Read a short story called "Acceptance" and discussed. Started working on making a comic strip about teenagers and acceptance. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA A10: Worked on writing an eye-witness account. It will need to be finished in class tomorrow.

CE 8: Handed in Prayer Booklets. Finished 1.1 Experience section on expectations and goals - most finished and handed in. Those who did not need to finish it for Monday. Be sure to bring your Bible for next class to work on 1.1 Information section on Pentecost.

ELA A10: Finished writing an eyewitness account in groups and switched to peer evaluate. Started writing one individually - we'll continue tomorrow.

Health 8: Handed back "Effective Support People: Traits" and discussed how the evaluation rubric works. Continued working on Helping vs. Enabling articles - most came to see me to explain the difference and then started working on skits in groups. We'll continue next class.

ELA B30: Handed back "Where I Am From" poems - great job! They'll be posted in the hallway for all to see! Finished the vocabulary for "The Enemy". Started reading it individually and answering questions - we'll continue tomorrow.

ELA B30: Handed in "Where I Am From" poems. Watched slam poetry video "Uncle Sam"; answered questions and handed in. Started study of poem "The Enemy" - read author biography and discussed five important/interesting facts, started looking at vocabulary from the poem. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: Continued working on "Ideal Friend" group poster and discussed peer evaluation. We'll finish and present tomorrow.

ELA A10: Eyewitness Account: discussed criteria, read an example and started working on a practice one in partners. You'll finish tomorrow and start writing one individually.

CE 8: Reminder - Prayer Booklets due Thursday. Colored and labeled a diagram of the Church Year. Started Unit I: We Believe in the Holy Spirit: 1.1 What do they expect me to do now? Discussed expectations we have of others and they of us. The first page of Activity 2 questions need to be finished for next class (NOT the story in the text).

ELA B30: Reminder - "Where I Am From" poems due tomorrow (most have already handed in). Read and discussed the poem "Genealogy". Discussed the idea of "Uncle Sam" in preparation for watching a video of a slam poetry performance tomorrow.

ELA 9: Handed in History Quilts. Read "Inspirational Friendship story" together. Started discussing friendship in small groups. You will work on creating a drawing of an "Ideal Friend" tomorrow which will be presented to the class.

CE 10: Discussed our birthday plan for the year - we will each bring something for the birthday that comes after our own. Miss Hayduk will bring first. Continued working on Prayer Booklet. Last work period on Monday.

ELA A10: Admit slip on the elements of short stories. Worked on vocabulary in preparation for reading "The Sniper" (Our new favorite word is "spasmodically"). We will finish tomorrow and read the story (finally!).

Health 8: Continued discussing the traits of effective support people. We compiled the group list to create a class Top Ten list, then answered questions individually. Some finished in class and handed in, those who did not need to finish for Monday.

ELA B30: Went to the library to speed date with novels for your critique assignment. There were cherry chocolates. Mrs. C is awesome.
