Career Ed 8: Since a bunch of people were missing, we decided to leave the group presentations of Employability Skills 2000+ until next class. Instead, we started working on group presentations for the rest of the skills in Section 3. Your group needs to create a skit of a work situation to demonstrate both a positive and negative example of the skill, and create an activity for the class to do to assess and/or practice their own abilities of that skill. You'll continue working on it next class.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Act IV, Scene ii and iii. Remember that your Family History Inquiry and Personal Essay is due on Friday.

CE 10: Work class for the Newspaper Project. You'll have one more class on Thursday and it is due on Monday.

ELA B10: The Merchant of Venice - Act III, Scenes iii and iv. We decided that Thursday will be a work class for your Problem-Solution Essay, which is due one week from today.

History 30/ELA A30: Finished reading The Secret Lives of Sgt. John Wilson. Continued working on "The Painted Door". Tomorrow you will finish "The Painted Door" and then have work time for your assignments (Unit Two Assessment, Research Essay, Canadian Novel Study).

History 30/ELA A30: Sgt. John Wilson Chapters XLVI-XLVII. We will finish the book tomorrow. Started the Unit III PowerPoint about the 19th Century (voting rights, suffragettes, creation of Alberta and Saskatchewan). Started reading the short story "The Painted Door" individually. You'll get more time tomorrow to read and work on the assignment sheet. Remember that you Unit II Assessment is due on Friday.

Drama 20: No class due to the track meet.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Since several people were missing, we spent part of the period working on the Character Committees, but we will present them on Monday. Did Act IV, Scene i.

CE 10: Continued working on the Newspaper Project. You'll get two more work periods next week, and the due date is the following Monday, June 6th.

History 30/ELA A30: Unit II, Part 2 (The West) Quiz. Work time for Unit II Final Assessment, which will be due next Friday (you'll have a little more work time tomorrow). Also decided on a due date for the Research Essay - Friday, June 10th. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XLIII-XLIV.

Drama 20: Contextual - finished prepping and presented refugees research. Created group tableaux about groups who are left behind and the impact of the situation on them.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Worked on Character Committees. Those groups who are able will present tomorrow.

Career Ed 8: Handed back Unit 2, Section 2 booklets. Continued working in Section 3, pages 64-66 (Transferable Skills). Worked in groups to create a presentation about the three different categories of Employability Skills - we'll continue next class.

History 30/ELA A30: Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XL. Finished Unit 2 (Saskatchewan Rebellion, Louis Riel, The Prairies - video Sections 9-12). Your quiz on Unit 2, Part 2 will be next Thursday.

Drama 20: Contextual - finished the scene about the first day on Mars. Discussed the issue behind this contextual drama - being a refugee. On Tuesday when I am away, you will (in pairs) research the topic I assigned to you about refugees. The Canadian Encyclopedia is a great website to use.

I also checked in with each student about missing assignments and progress on your Family History Inquiry and Personal Essay (we have set the due date for Friday, June 3rd).

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XXXIX. Finished the section on the Indian Act and started looking more at the rebellions in the West, includes video sections 6-8. We miss our class tomorrow since we'll be gone to Mary Poppins, so on Thursday we will learn about the Saskatchewan Rebellion and Louis Riel's fate (just in time to go to Batoche on Tuesday!).

Drama 20: Contextual Drama - handed in Character Profiles and Diaries. Created headlines to demonstrate what has happened on Earth since the colony group left for Mars, then started working on creating a scene in-role of the first day on Mars.

ELA 20: Macbeth Act II, Scenes iii and iv. We also decided that the essay will be written out of class. Tomorrow will be a work class for the Character Web and other assignments.

CE 10: Discussed the film The Count of Monte Cristo and handed in the Journal assignment. Started working in two groups on the newspaper project for Jesus' Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension. More work time next class.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XXXV. Handed out the Unit Final Assessment and discussed. The Treaties: finished the slides and did an activity to learn about the numbered treaties. Started reading an information booklet about the Indian Act and answering questions. Over the next two days while I'm gone, you'll need to finish those questions (we'll correct on Monday), and then you'll have time to work on either your Independent Novel Study or your Research Essay.

Drama 20: Contextual Drama - Meeting in role - created a list of supplies to bring to Mars. On Friday when I'm gone, you'll work on writing a diary entry in role as you travel to Mars, then work in pairs/groups to create newspaper headlines about what is happening on Earth, and if you finish all that you'll start creating a scene depicting the group's first day on Mars.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Act I, Scenes vi and vii.  For the next two days while I'm gone, you'll get work time for either your Personal History Inquiry or your Autobiography/Memoir assignment.

ELA B10: Problem-Solution Essay - reviewed how to create effective thesis statements (handout, worksheet) and handed out the Peer Feedback Form. The Merchant of Venice - Act II, Scene i.  For the next two days while I'm gone, you'll get work time for either your Problem-Solution Essay or your Independent Novel Study.

CE 10: Handed back collages. Continued watching The Count of Monte Cristo and working on the journal assignment. You'll finish the movie on Thursday when I'm gone, and the journal assignment will be due on Monday.

Career Ed 8: Last work period for your Unit 2, Section 1 collage. Those who didn't finish it in class need to finish it for next class (Tuesday).

ELA 20: Macbeth - did intro activities and discussed the major assignments (Reading Log and Literary Analysis essay). Think about whether you would like to do the essay in-class or not. We will start Act I on Monday.

CE 10: Handed in collages. Started watching the film The Count of Monte Cristo for Catholic Education Week/The Jubilee Year of Mercy. Don't forget about the journal assignment that goes with it.

ELA B10: The Merchant of Venice - discussed anti-Semitism. Handed out the Reading Logs and Themes assignments. Listened to Act I, Sc i and filled out most of the Reading Log together.

History 30/ELA A30: Since so many people were missing, we decided to have a work class for either your Research Essay or Canadian Novel Study. On Monday we will continue with the PowerPoint on the West.

History 30/ELA A30: Wrote the Quiz on Part 1 of Unit 2 (Confederation: Before, During, and After), then had some work time for either your Research Essay or your Canadian Independent Novel Study. Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XXXII.

Drama 20: Finished the last Theatre History Project presentation and handed everything in. Started the next unit, which is Contextual Drama. Discussed what a Contextual Drama is, and read a picture book called Moustronaut goes to Mars. Started in-role by setting up the situation of setting up a colony on Mars. Next class you will work on creating your individual characters - think of an accessory/costume piece to bring to wear during the in-role activities.

ELA 20: No class due to the Career Fair.

ELA B10: Started The Merchant of Venice some introductory activities and notes. We'll start Act I tomorrow.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapters XXIX-XXX. Finish the first section on the PowerPoint and watched the first section of the video and answered questions. Your Quiz is on Thursday. Introduced the Research Essay and started researching.

Drama 20: Theatre History Projects - two more presentations. Last one on Thursday and then we will start the new unit.

ELA 20: Independent Study of an Autobiography or Memoir - gave assignment and went to the library to get books. A reminder for those who have not yet shown me the proposal for the Family History Inquiry - please do so ASAP. Tomorrow we are starting the next unit.

ELA B10: Problem-Solution Essay - last work period (for now - you'll get more later). Make sure that you have a plan for what you will be working on outside of class. Tomorrow we will start Unit II.

Career Ed 8: Finished the activities of Unit 2, Section 1 and start working on the collage. You'll have more time next class.

ELA 20: Family History Inquiry & Personal Essay - had work time and some students showed me their proposals. Those who did not need to do so ASAP. Tomorrow we will be going to the library to get autobiographies/memoirs and you'll get the assignment that goes with it.

CE 10: Jesus of History, Christ of Faith - corrected Chapter 5 together and handed in. Started working  on a collage to represent the five chapters that we read in the text. You'll get Wednesday's class to work on it as well.

ELA B10: Work period for your Problem-Solution Essay. You'll get tomorrow's class as well, and then on Wednesday we will be starting Unit II.

History 30/ELA A30: Sgt. John Wilson Chapters XXVII and XXVIII. Started the post-Confederation section of this unit with PowerPoint. We'll finish the first section of this unit tomorrow, and then we decided on Thursday for a Quiz date. After we finish that tomorrow, you'll start your Research Essay.
