ELA 20: Handed back Autobiography presentation evaluations and Macbeth Literary Analysis essays. Finished updating Literature Anthology. Started working on Literacy Portfolios - you'll have tomorrow and Wednesdays classes to work on it, and then hand it in on Wednesday.

CE 10: No class due to your Art field trip. On Wednesday, you'll have your last class to finish your Marie Rivier assignment and hand in. Remember to hand in your Service Hours if you have not already done so.

Drama 20: No class due to your field trip to the Arts Centre. Three classes left!

ELA 20: Discussed the Autobiography presentations - decided to just to the first part (introducing a speaker) and drop the second part (visual/multimedia). Presentations start tomorrow. Work time for that or your Macbeth Literary Analysis Essay, which is due on Friday.

ELA B10: Handed back Problem-Solution Essays and reviewed citing and bibliography formatting. Signed up for The Merchant of Venice Themes Oral Presentations next week, then had work time. On Monday we will start watching the film.

ELA 20: Macbeth - discussed themes and started working on the Literary Analysis Essay. Tomorrow we will start watching the film.

CE 10: Shared newspapers and handed in. Started the next unit on "The Mission of Jesus". Discussed the Kingdom of God and looked at the Bible passages that describe it. Started talking about one of Jesus' main ways of teachings about the Kingdom of God, which is parables. We read the parable of the Good Samaritan together and discussed. Handed out the assignment for teaching a parable to the class in partners. You'll prepare it on Wednesday and present it on Friday.

ELA B10: The Merchant of Venice - Character Committee presentations. The rest of the class was work time for the Problem-Solution Essay, which is due tomorrow.

Career Ed 8: Since a bunch of people were missing, we decided to leave the group presentations of Employability Skills 2000+ until next class. Instead, we started working on group presentations for the rest of the skills in Section 3. Your group needs to create a skit of a work situation to demonstrate both a positive and negative example of the skill, and create an activity for the class to do to assess and/or practice their own abilities of that skill. You'll continue working on it next class.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Act IV, Scene ii and iii. Remember that your Family History Inquiry and Personal Essay is due on Friday.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XXXIX. Finished the section on the Indian Act and started looking more at the rebellions in the West, includes video sections 6-8. We miss our class tomorrow since we'll be gone to Mary Poppins, so on Thursday we will learn about the Saskatchewan Rebellion and Louis Riel's fate (just in time to go to Batoche on Tuesday!).

Drama 20: Contextual Drama - handed in Character Profiles and Diaries. Created headlines to demonstrate what has happened on Earth since the colony group left for Mars, then started working on creating a scene in-role of the first day on Mars.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Sgt. John Wilson Chapter XXXV. Handed out the Unit Final Assessment and discussed. The Treaties: finished the slides and did an activity to learn about the numbered treaties. Started reading an information booklet about the Indian Act and answering questions. Over the next two days while I'm gone, you'll need to finish those questions (we'll correct on Monday), and then you'll have time to work on either your Independent Novel Study or your Research Essay.

Drama 20: Contextual Drama - Meeting in role - created a list of supplies to bring to Mars. On Friday when I'm gone, you'll work on writing a diary entry in role as you travel to Mars, then work in pairs/groups to create newspaper headlines about what is happening on Earth, and if you finish all that you'll start creating a scene depicting the group's first day on Mars.

ELA 20: Macbeth - Act I, Scenes vi and vii.  For the next two days while I'm gone, you'll get work time for either your Personal History Inquiry or your Autobiography/Memoir assignment.

ELA B10: Problem-Solution Essay - reviewed how to create effective thesis statements (handout, worksheet) and handed out the Peer Feedback Form. Drama 20: Finished the last Theatre History Project presentation and handed everything in. Started the next unit, which is Contextual Drama. Discussed what a Contextual Drama is, and read a picture book called Moustronaut goes to Mars. Started in-role by setting up the situation of setting up a colony on Mars. Next class you will work on creating your individual characters - think of an accessory/costume piece to bring to wear during the in-role activities.

Drama 20: Theatre History Projects - two more presentations. Last one on Thursday and then we will start the new unit.

ELA 20: Independent Study of an Autobiography or Memoir - gave assignment and went to the library to get books. A reminder for those who have not yet shown me the proposal for the Family History Inquiry - please do so ASAP. Tomorrow we are starting the next unit.

Career Ed 8: Finished the activities of Unit 2, Section 1 and start working on the collage. You'll have more time next class.

ELA 20: Family History Inquiry & Personal Essay - had work time and some students showed me their proposals. Those who did not need to do so ASAP. Tomorrow we will be going to the library to get autobiographies/memoirs and you'll get the assignment that goes with it.

CE 10: Jesus of History, Christ of Faith - corrected Chapter 5 together and handed in. Started working  on a collage to represent the five chapters that we read in the text. You'll get Wednesday's class to work on it as well.

ELA B10: Work period for your Problem-Solution Essay. You'll get tomorrow's class as well, and then on Wednesday we will be starting Unit II.

History 30/ELA A30: Sgt. John Wilson Chapters XXVII and XXVIII. Started the post-Confederation section of this unit with PowerPoint. History 30/ELA A30: Sgt. John Wilson Chapters XXV and XXVI. Handed back Confederation Simulation evaluations. Did notes and an activity on the British North America Act of 1867. Read the poem "I am a Canadian" and made a chart of the different types of landscapes featured in the poem. Next week (probably Tuesday) I will be assigning your major Research Essay, which will count for both History and ELA. Start thinking about a Canadian history topic that might interest you.

Drama 20: We only had one Theatre History Project presentation today, so the rest of the class was just individual work time. We'll continue with the presentations on Tuesday.

ELA 20: Handed in the Themes assignment for I Am Hutterite, which completes our study of it. Introduced the Family History Inquiry and Personal Essay assignment - please have your proposal ready for Monday, which will be a work class. On Tuesday we will be going to the library to choose an autobiography or memoir for your Independent Study, so start thinking about who you might like to read about.

Career Ed 8: Handed back the remaining Health assignments - we are now finished Health for the year. Started Career Education using the textbook Careers for Life. Unit 2: Who Am I? Read the Unit Overview together. Worked on the Discovery activity on page 31, as well as reading the Unit 2 Story of pages 32-33 and answered the questions.  We will discuss both activities next class.

ELA 20: Those who had been absent Friday handed in the rough drafts of their childhood paragraphs - tomorrow you will revise and type out your find draft. I Am Hutterite - discussed Chapter 10. Chapter 11 (the last chapter!) for Wednesday. We are almost finished the book, so don't forget about the Themes assignment - it will be due sometime next week. There will also be a group assignment that we will discuss later this week.  A reminder also that your Travel paragraph is due on Friday.

CE 10: Continued working on the Chapter 4 group presentation.  You'll have Wednesday's class to finish preparing, and then present on Friday.

ELA 20: Discussed the Sentence Fluency booklet. Finished off the rough draft of your paragraphs about childhood and handed in for formative assessment. Also handed in the questions from the video on the history of childhood. Those who finished had time to work on Chapter 10 of I Am Hutterite, which is due on Monday.

Health 8: Finished the Violence and Abuse booklet, discussed and handed in. Did a review activity (poster) of what we have learned in health this year. On Monday we will be starting Career Ed.

ELA 20: I Am Hutterite - discussed Chapter 9. Chapter 10 is due on Monday. Tomorrow we will be going through the Sentence Fluency booklet together and then finishing off the rough copies of your Childhood paragraphs to be submitted for feedback. A reminder that your travel reflection/paragraph is due next Friday.

ELA B10: The Hunger Games - handed in debate form. Creative Writing Assignment is due Monday. Started a new section of our Equity and Ethics unit called "Rights and Responsibilities" by reading individually the short story "The Fan Club" and working on the assignment (elements of a short story, quotes, vocabulary). You'll have tomorrow's class to finish it, and whatever time you have left will be silent reading.

Health 8: Looked at everyone's STI projects to finish off the Sexuality/STI Take-Home Exam and handed in. Those who finished early started working on the booklet for our last Health unit on Violence and Abuse - we'll continue next class. We only have two more weeks of Health, so those who have missing assignments need to get them in ASAP.

CE 10: Finished the Gospel presentations, then finished off the booklet on Chapter 2 and handed in. Started working on Part 1 of Chapter 3 (The Historical World of Jesus) - we'll continue next class.

ELA B10: Handed back Montgomery Bus Boycott assignment. Handed in The Hunger Games Fictionalized Journal. Work period for Term 3 Literacy Portfolio, which is due on Monday. Tomorrow will be another work period.

Health 8: We continued with the STI Glogs. Since quite a few people had trouble with theirs, I gave everyone the rest of the class to finish/re-do them (in another medium if necessary). As such, we will share them first thing next class (Monday after the break). The rest of your Take-Home Exam must be  done for that day, so that you can finish #6 with the Glogs and then hand it in.

CE 10: Finished the group presentations about the stages of development of the Gospels, then started another group activity about the four Gospels. We started presentations - we'll finish after the break.

ELA B10: Continued working on the Montgomery Bus Boycott activities. You'll finish tomorrow and hand it in, and whatever time you have left is work time for The Hunger Games.

History 30/ELA A30: The first period was work time for either The Book of Negroes (the last section is due on Friday) or studying for the History Unit I Test (which is on Wednesday). After that we read the poem "Not Just a Platform for my Dance" and discussed, then started looking at Editorial writing for the assignment that goes with The Book of Negroes.

Drama 20: Worked on the first of two final assessments for the Speech Unit, which was the "One Word Vocabulary" activity.  First, you had an opportunity to practice in partners, and then we started the individual evaluations. We'll finish those next class, and then start looking at a play.

ELA 20: Continued working on the childhood paragraph. While you were working, I started the one-on-one interviews for I Am Hutterite. Tomorrow we will discuss Chapter 6.

ELA B10: Started working on an Equity and Ethics Image Activity - you'll get 15 minutes of tomorrow's class to finish it. After that it will be for homework for Wednesday.

Health 8: HIV/AIDS - Did an admit slip to see what you remembered from last class. Handed back the question sheet for "Beyond Fear". Discussed and filled in a notes sheet about testing and the origins of HIV. Watched a BrainPOP video to review. Started looking at some quotes about HIV/AIDS in small groups - we'll finish discussing next class.

ELA 20: I Am Hutterite - Discussed Chapter 5. Chapter 6 for Tuesday. Don't forget about the Themes sheet as well. Also discussed that I will want you to write a paragraph about how travel impacts you (generally or specifically your Europe trip) after you get back - there won't be any other ELA work while you are gone. On Monday, we will continue working on your paragraph about childhood.

Drama 20: More speaking activities - Gibberish Interpret and Gibberish Conversation.

ELA 20: Discussed the video "Hidden Histories: Childhood" that we watched on Tuesday and started working on a paragraph about childhood. We'll continue working on it on Monday. Tomorrow we will discuss Chapter 5 of I Am Hutterite and start Chapter 6.

ELA B10: Handed back the evaluations for the Ethics activities. Did a listening activity - I read aloud the short story "After You, My Dear Alphonse" and you filled out a worksheet. Tomorrow will be a work period for The Hunger Games for those who are here.

Health 8: HIV/AIDS - those who had not handed in "Beyond Fear" did so. Discussed HIV/AIDS terminology, stages, transmission, and prevention and took notes.

ELA 20: I Am Hutterite - discussed Chapter 4 questions. Chapter 5 for Friday. Tomorrow we will discuss the video we watched yesterday and then you'll start working on a paragraph about childhood.

CE 10: Finished the last Patriarch presentation. Started the second part of the unit, which is about Jesus. We will be using the textbook Jesus of History, Christ of Faith, so make sure that you have it for class. Started with a word association activity about Jesus, and then started working on Part 1: Who Do You Say that I Am?. You will have Friday's class to work on it, and then it will be for homework.

ELA B10: No class due to the Reconciliation Celebration.

History 30/ELA A30: Discussed Section 5 of The Book of Negroes. Tomorrow we will watch the mini-series episode. Section 6 (the rest of the novel) is due next Friday, March 18th. Remember that you will be handing in your Literature Circles booklet. History 30/ELA A30: Finish the PowerPoint on Colonization, which is the end of this unit. I handed out a worksheet about colonization - you'll have class time on Thursday to complete it. We also set a test date for Unit I - Wednesday, March 16th. We'll have plenty of review time before then. Tomorrow we will be discussing Section 5 of The Book of Negroes.

Drama 20: We have gone through all of the skills for our Speech unit (Posture, Breathing, Resonance, Articulation, Projection), so now we will be doing some activities where we will be using what we have learned. The first one we did today was "Vending Machine". More next class.

ELA 20: The first half of class was work time for Chapter 4 of I Am Hutterite, which is due tomorrow. Then I gave back the evaluations for the Scar Anecdote presentations. Finally, we watched a video called "Hidden Histories: Childhood" and completed a sheet of questions.

ELA B10: Finished discussing the "Ethicist" columns, then filled out a self-evaluation for the Ethics activities. The rest of the period was reading time for The Hunger Games.

HIV/AIDS - "Beyond Fear" - discussed the first side of the question sheet and then had time to finish the back side - those who did not finish in class need to do so for Wednesday. Handed out the information sheet on HIV/AIDS and tried to fill in what you know - we'll fill it in together on Wednesday.

ELA 20: Had a couple more Scar Anecdote presentations. I Am Hutterite - Discussed Chapter 3 Questions and started reading Chapter 4. You'll get a little extra time tomorrow to work on Chapter 4 (not the entire period) - it is due on Wednesday.

CE 10: Patriarchs Creative Group Presentations.

ELA B10: Handed back "The Blind Men and the Elephant" paragraphs. Finished discussing the Honesty Quiz. Worked in groups on the "Ethicist" columns - you'll share your columns tomorrow.

ELA 20: I Am Hutterite - Discussed KWL Chart, Homework checked and discussed the Prologue and Chapter 1 Questions.  Chapter 2 is due for Thursday - tomorrow's class will be a work period since a bunch of you are gone to We Day. Remember that your Scar anecdote oral presentations are on Friday.

CE 10: Discussed the "Where have you seen Jesus this week?" idea - we will use sticky notes on the bulletin board. Corrected the "Exodus" questions. Continued working on the Patriarchs Creative Presentations - you'll get one more class on Thursday and then present on Monday.

ELA B10: Continued with the Ethics Activities - more tomorrow. Those who have not yet handed in their paragraphs on "The Blind Men and the Elephant" must do so by the end of the week.

Health 8: Continued 6.3 Can suffering be meaningful? You'll finish it on Friday and start the HIV section.

ELA 20: Finished reading and discussing "Scars" in groups and started writing an anecdote about a scar. You'll present your anecdote orally on Friday, March 4th. On Thursday and Friday you will start working on the non-fiction study of I Am Hutterite. The Prologue and Chapter 1 (reading and questions) are due on Tuesday.

CE 10: Corrected "The Story of Joseph, Son of Jacob". Continued working on "Exodus". On Friday you will finish "Exodus" and then do a group skit/creative presentation on one of the five Patriarchs.  On Tuesday you will have some time to finish preparing and then you will present.

ELA B10: Homework checked and discussed "So What Are You, Anyway?". Started an Ethics activity called the "Heinz Dilemma" - we'll continue it on Tuesday. Also handed back the paragraphs on "The Blind Men and the Elephant".  For tomorrow's class you will type out your final draft of the paragraph and hand it all in, and then the rest of the period and Friday's class are work time for The Hunger Games novel study and Fictionalized Journal assignment. On Tuesday we will continue with the Ethics activities.

ELA 20: Explained the Memories Images activity. Last work period for the Childhood Memories poems - they are due after the break. Tomorrow you will do the Images activity.

CE 10: Corrected "The Patriarch Jacob" and then watched (part of) a VeggieTales video on Joseph.

ELA B10: Continued working on the Punctuation booklet. We will correct it together tomorrow.

Read through the handout on "Forces Promoting Colonization" and discussed. Gave the definition for "constitution" - we'll discuss tomorrow. Remember that Section 2 of The Book of Negroes is due on Friday.

Drama 20: Reviewed what we learned last class about posture. Tried walking with different types of postures (marionette, character). Played the "Sit, Lie, Stand" improv game to practice posture. Started looking at Breath Control with some breathing exercises.

ELA 20: Continued working on your childhood memories poems. Tomorrow will be your last class to finish it.

ELA B10: Introduced The Hunger Games novel study.  You are reading the novel independently at your own pace - it must be read (completely) by the time we get back from Easter break - Monday, April 4th. We also discussed the Fictionalized Journal assignment that you will do as you read the novel - it will be due soon after April 4th (we will decide on a date later). We will do other activities with the novel as well in April. The rest of the period was either reading time or work time for the punctuation booklet. Drama 20: Handed in "Looking at a Play" assignment. Discuss the Self and Teacher Evaluation process for class engagement and participation. Started a unit on Speech. Brainstormed skills/qualities for good speaking skills, then listed the ones we will be exploring: Posture, Breath control, Resonance, Articulation, and Projection. Began a journal entry about which of the five you are your strongest and weakest. Started looking at Posture with some videos and exercises. We'll continue next class.

ELA 20: Intro stuff (Icebreaker, Rules and expectations, tour of classroom, etc.). Course Outline. Started discussing Mad Libs. We'll do one tomorrow! Also, please remember to bring a Writing Notebook by Friday.

CE 10: Discussed the documentary The Bible's Buried Secrets and handed in notes. Started Unit Three: Jesus' Story. The first section is on The Patriarchs, starting with Abraham. Working in pairs, you were reading the information on Abraham and answering the question booklet. You'll continue on Wednesday. I may be late getting to class after the play is over, so please start even if I am not there.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Started discussing the Guiding Questions for the other unit (Canadian Landscapes) which we are going to do first instead - we will go back to Canadian Perspectives afterwards. We'll finish the discussion on Monday. NO CURRENT EVENTS NEXT WEEK (due to exams).

ELA 9: Finished the last Modern Heroes presentation and handed back evaluations. Worked on reading Indigenous and Norse Love Stories individually. We'll finish Monday.

History 30/ELA A30: Current Event. Introduced the class novel study of The Book of Negroes (watched a short video about the author and read a section in the back of the book). Discussed the Literature Circles and Editorial assignments. Started reading Section 1 (due Wednesday, February 3rd).

ELA 9: Love stories - finished the Pre-reading questions and discussed. Read the story "The White Stone Canoe" aloud and discussed. Tomorrow you will read a few other stories in the duotang.

ELA A10: Continued working on the Historical Persona Essay.

Health/CE 8: Finished watching Sex Still Has a Price Tag and discussed. Please bring your C.E. textbook for tomorrow.
