CE 10: Last period to finish your Biblical Figure Research Assignment - we will share your posters on Thursday. We also discussed the outline for the "Unit Two: Our Story" Test, which will be on Monday, January 18th.

You need to know for the test:
1. Closed Book Section (no notes/booklets)
- The booklet called "The Bible" - know this booklet VERY WELL
- The assignment booklet "Finding Your Way Around the Bible"
- The sheet "Different Views: How The Bible Was Written"
2. Open Book Section (you will have the booklet with you)
- The booklet "Where to Look in the Bible"

ELA A10: We discussed the Literacy Portfolio for Term 2, which needs to be submitted by Tuesday, January 26th (the last day of classes for the semester). Then we continued with the Outline for your Historical Persona Essay.

Health 8: Continued working on the "Positive Body Image and Self-Esteem Project".

History 30/ELA B30: Current Event. Continued presenting the First Nations groups.

ELA 9: Started researching for the Modern Day Heroes assignment. Reminder for those who have not handed in their Proverbs Paragraphs - for tomorrow!

History 30/ELA A30: Discussed the First Nations People in Canada question sheets and started presentations. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: Last work period for the Proverbs Paragraph - those who did not finish have until Wednesday to hand it in.  Tomorrow we are starting a research assignment on Modern Day Heroes.

ELA A10: Handed in your Independent Novel Studies.  Finished researching for your Historical Persona Essay - tomorrow you'll work on your Outline.

CE 8: Finished presenting the Body Image Ads. Started working on the Positive Body Image and Self-Esteem Project. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA A10: We worked a little more on the Word Choice booklet and then spent some time researching for your Historical Persona Essay. Monday you should be able to finish your research and begin your Outline. Remember that your Independent Novel Study is due on Monday!

CE 10: Continued working on the Biblical Figure Research Assignment. Since most people are done or close to it, we will take some time to finish on Tuesday and then hopefully have time to share them and hand them in. This may also bump up the Unit 2 Test date to Monday, January 18th. We will decide for sure on Tuesday.

Health 8: Handed back the Eating Disorders booklet. Worked in partners on finding an advertisement related to body image and self-esteem. A few groups presented to the class - the rest will do so on Monday.

History 30/ELA A30: Last work period for the First Nations People in Canada assignment. Presentations on Monday.

ELA 9: Continued working on the Proverbs Paragraph. You'll have one more class on Monday to finish.

History 30/ELA A30: Continued researching the First Nations People in Canada assignment. You'll have one more period tomorrow to finish and then you'll present on Monday.

ELA 9: Started working on the Proverbs Paragraph. You'll have Friday and Monday to complete it.

ELA A10: Historical Persona Essay - discussed flashback and dialogue, then started researching in the computer lab. Tomorrow we will work on the Word Choice booklet.

Health 8: Discussed the Eating Disorders booklet and handed in. Started looking at how the media influences body image and self-esteem - read an article and watched a video on how magazines are photo-shopped. Explained an assignment about finding an advertisement about body image and/or self-esteem. You'll find an advertisement and analyze it tomorrow.

ELA A10/CE 10: We only had one class today due to the Celebration, so we did half and half. 

For ELA we continued working on the Word Choice booklet. Don't forget that your Independent Novel Study is due on Monday.

For CE we continued working on your Biblical Figure Research Assignment. The due date for your poster is next Thursday, January 14th, and your Unit 2 Test will be on Wednesday, January 20th.

Health 8: We finished the Eating Disorders booklet and those who were done did a Body Image Word Search.  We will discuss the booklet tomorrow.

History 30/ELA A30: We discussed how Current Events will work for History.  The first one will be next Tuesday. Then we continued working on the First Nations in Canada assignment, which we'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: We continued working on Hero Tales - finished the reading section and Proverbs and discussed. Tomorrow you'll start working writing a paragraph about one of the Proverbs.

History 30/ELA A30: Presented "I Am Canadian" poems and handed in questions (they were handed back at the end of class). Started working on the "First Nations People in Canada" assignment. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA 9: Continued working on reading the Hero Tales. Some started working on the Proverbs section. We'll continue tomorrow.

ELA A10: Handed back the assignments from The Miracle Worker. Started looking at the Historical Persona Essay assignment and looking at a Word Choice booklet. For tomorrow, since we miss CE for the Epiphany Celebration, we will split our ELA class: the first half we will do ELA and continue the Word Choice booklet, and the second half will be CE work time for your Biblical Figure Research Assignment.

Health 8: Started working on a booklet about Eating Disorders - watched two BrainPOP videos and worked with the Teen Health 3 textbook. We'll continue tomorrow.

CE 10: Work period for your Biblical Figure Research Assignment. It will likely be due sometime next week. Don't forget that there will be a test on Unit 2 before Progress Reports.

CE/Health 8: Handed back the "Body Image and Self-Esteem" Research assignment.  We spent the period preparing for the Epiphany celebration on Wednesday.

ELA B30: Last work period for your "I Am Canadian" poems and questions. You will present tomorrow.  Please remember to bring something to read for Bell Work.

ELA 9: Handed back the Christmas Around the World assignment evaluation.  Started working on Hero Tales - you'll continue reading the stories tomorrow.

Health 8: Discussed the Body Image and Self-Esteem research booklet and handed in. We did a Christmas activity for the rest of the period.

ELA B30: Work period for your "I am Canadian" poem. You'll work a little bit more on it tomorrow and then we'll finish it after Christmas. A reminder to those who have not yet handed in their Map of Canada - please do so tomorrow!

ELA A30/History 30: Discussed Unit 1 Guiding Questions. Read and discussed "Only in Canada" and "You know you're from Canada when..." in the duotang. Watched the video of the "I am Canadian" commercial. Tomorrow you'll work on the assignment that goes with it. Remember that those who have not handed in their Map of Canada must do so by Friday.

ELA 9: Continued working on the Christmas Traditions assignment. You'll have tomorrow to finish and you'll present either tomorrow or Friday.

ELA A10: The Miracle Worker - both groups did their oral presentations, and then we started watching the film. We'll continue watching tomorrow. Remember the individual assignment is due on Friday.

Health 8: Last work period for the "Body Image and Self-Esteem" research assignment. We'll discuss it tomorrow and you'll hand it in.

Health 8: Handed back the CE 6.1 booklet. Continued working on the Body Image and Self-Esteem booklet. You'll have one more class tomorrow to finish it.

History 30/ELA A30: Last work period for the Map of Canada. Those who did not finish need to do so by Friday. Tomorrow we will look at the Guiding Questions for Unit I in ELA.

ELA 9: Continued Christmas Traditions research. You'll work on creating your presentation tomorrow. Presentations need to be given on Thursday or Friday.

ELA 9: Researched for the "Christmas Around the World" assignment. You'll continue tomorrow. Keep in mind that this needs to be presented before the holidays.

ELA A10: Finished reading The Miracle Worker in groups and worked on the group presentation. You'll have time to prepare tomorrow and then you'll present before the end of the period.

CE/Health 8: CE - discussed 6.1 (all 4 sections) and handed in. Health - continued the research on Body Image and Self-Esteem. Tomorrow you should finish the online research and then continue the research in the textbook.

ELA A10: Continued reading The Miracle Worker. Both groups should finish on Monday and then you will work on the assignments.

CE 10: Did the "Tell Them From Me" Survey.

CE/Health 8: Since many people forgot to bring their CE 6.1 booklets, we will discuss them and hand in on Monday. Started the next Health unit on "Body Image and Self-Esteem" with a research assignment. We will correct CE and then continuing researching on Monday.

ELA B30: Finished the Final Exam!! Also handed in the Self-Assessment. On Monday we will begin ELA A30 and History 30.

ELA 9: Discussed the Bible stories that relate to "Why the Sea is Salt". Read two other Pourquoi Tales ("How the Bear Lost His Tail" and "How Grandmother Spider Stole the Sun") and did a summarizing activity in partners. Then we started discussing the Christmas Traditions research assignment that we will start on Monday.

ELA 9: Continued with "Pourquoi" tales: Finished sharing your versions of "Why the Sea is Salt", then read the real story and discussed. Worked on a sheet of Bible stories that relate to the courage and perseverance in the story - we'll discuss the sheet tomorrow. Please make sure to bring your Narratives duotang tomorrow.

ELA A10: Continued reading The Miracle Worker in groups. Tantrum, anyone?

CE 8: Completed the "Tell Them From Me" Survey in the computer lab. Remember that for tomorrow you need to bring the CE 6.1 booklets that we finished, but then we are starting a unit in Health.

CE 10: Finished decorating our door. On Friday we will be doing the "Tell Them From Me" Survey (in Period 3 - switched with ELA)

ELA A10: Continued reading The Miracle Worker in small groups.

CE 8: Worked on 6.1 Application and Action. Anyone who did not finish in class has until Friday. Tomorrow we will be in the computer lab for the "Tell Them From Me" Survey.  On Friday, we will discuss and you will hand in all sections of 6.1. Then we are moving on to Health and starting a unit on Body Image and Self-Esteem, so bring your Health stuff.

ELA B30: Handed back Global Social Issues Inquiry Project evaluations. Reviewed the Word Choice and Sentence Fluency booklets. Watched a video of Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech and discussed. Reviewed the Unit 2 Guiding Questions. Final Exam tomorrow and Friday!

ELA 9: Handed back the Trickster assignment. Started looking at "Pourquoi" Tales: wrote some notes, then wrote a story about "Why the Sea is Salt". Some shared their stories. We will share the rest tomorrow and then read the real story to see how it compares.

ELA B30: Handed back A Thousand Splendid Suns In-class Essays. Listened to the last Global Social Issues Project. Worked on the last page of the Word Choice Booklet.

ELA 9: Trickster stories presentations: A couple of groups presented today. Hopefully the other groups will present tomorrow...we'll see!

ELA B30: In-class essay. Remember that your Final Exam is Thursday and Friday next week. We'll spend Monday-Wednesday wrapping things up and you should have some time to study. Don't forget about the Assess and Reflect booklet that I gave you - I need it by Friday!

ELA 9: Continued working on Trickster Stories Group Activity. On Monday you'll have more work time and we may start presenting.

ELA A10: 1st half of class: Finished the introduction to The Miracle Worker (video, discussing the individual assignment and group project), and started reading in groups. 2nd half of class: work time for your Independent Novel Study - I homework checked one activity.

CE 10: Discussed our Advent Project - I will talk to the sisters about visiting during a CE period. Finished correcting the Bible Searches booklet together. Created the assignment and assessment criteria for the Biblical Figure Research Assignment (which will be a poster). You'll start researching next class. ELA A10: Finished the Questioning activity for "The Michelle I Know" and handed in. Started some introductory activities for the play "The Miracle Worker" by reading a reference sheet about features of a play.

CE 8: Finished correcting the Advent booklet together and handed in. Started working on Unit 6: We believe in the resurrection of the body, looking at our bodies and the analogy of a car (6.1 Experience).

ELA B30: Last work period to prepare for your in-class essay tomorrow. I would suggest that you get a laptop before class starts if you are using one. I also handed out the Assess and Reflect booklet that you need to complete by next Friday.

ELA B30: Worked a little bit on the Word Choice Booklet and also had another presentation of a Global Social Issues Project.  The rest of the time was spent preparing for your in-class essay. Tomorrow is your last day to prepare and then you write your essay on Friday!

ELA 9: Started working on the Trickster Stories Group Activity, which we'll continue next class. Remember that those who have not yet handed in the re-done draft of their Creation stories paragraph must do so tomorrow.

ELA A10: Worked on the Questioning Activity with the short story "The Michelle I Know". We'll finish tomorrow and then start looking at the play "The Miracle Worker". On Friday we will spend the first half of class working on the play and then you will have the rest of the period to work on your Independent Novel Study. Remember that I will be doing a homework check for one activity.

CE 8: We had a shortened class due to the Reconciliation celebration. We put up your Unit 1 Collages in the hallway, then started correcting the Advent booklet. We'll finish tomorrow and then start a new unit.

CE 10: Watched a video and discussed Reconciliation in preparation for tomorrow. Discussed ideas for our Advent project - I will check with Sr. Mary and let you know. Homework checked and corrected the first six pages of the Bible Searches booklet - worked on the last two pages, which need to be completed for Thursday.  Think about which Bible character you may want to research.

ELA A10: Handed out the evaluation sheet for your Independent Novel Study. Finished discussing the Guiding Questions for Unit II. Discussed Bible stories that feature challenges. Handed out the sheet for the questioning activity tomorrow with the short story "The Michelle I Know".

CE 8: Last work period for the Advent booklet - we will correct it tomorrow.

ELA B30: Discussed the end of A Thousand Splendid Suns - your in-class essay is on Friday.  You will have some time tomorrow and Thursday to prepare your outline. Had another Global Social Issues Project presentation. Work a little on the Word Choice Booklet. Also discussed what will be on the Final Exam next week (Thursday and Friday).

ELA 9: Went through the questions for Brother Bear and rewrote in complete sentences.  A reminder that the final draft of your Creation stories paragraph is due on Thursday. Tomorrow you will start working on your group assignment for the Trickster stories.

ELA 9: Continued working on revising your Creation stories paragraph in the computer lab. It is now for homework to be handed in by Thursday.

ELA A10: Handed back your Unsolved Mysteries Project evaluation - great work! Started Unit II - The Challenges of Life by looking at the Guiding Questions. We'll finish discussing tomorrow.

CE 8: Handed in Unit 1 Collage. Watched a video and discussed Reconciliation in preparation for the celebration on Wednesday.  Continued working on the Advent booklet - you'll have tomorrow to finish it and we will correct on Wednesday, so take it home if one more class won't be enough time.

CE 10: Continued working on the Bible Searches booklet. Please have all of the activities EXCEPT for the last 2 completed for Tuesday.

ELA A10: The last group presented their Unsolved Mysteries Project. Had a wrap-up discussion of the Unit I Guiding Questions. The rest of the period was work time for your Independent Novel Study - remember that you need to show me one activity by next Friday. On Monday we will be starting the second unit, "The Challenges of Life".

CE 8: Started working on Advent activities (video, booklet) which we will continue on Monday. Remember that your Unit 1 Collage is due on Monday.

ELA B30: A Thousand Splendid Suns - discussed Chapters 41-45; please finish the novel for Tuesday. In-class essay date is still looking like next Friday, and the final exam dates (you'll write it over two days) are tentatively December 10th and 11th (Thursday-Friday). The rest of the class was work time for either your Global Social Issues Project or your novel/essay. On Monday we will start presenting your projects.

ELA 9: We worked in the computer lab revising your Creation stories paragraphs - we will finish on Monday.

ELA B30: Worked on the Glogs for your Global Social Issues Group Inquiry Project. Tomorrow we will discuss Chapters 41-45 of A Thousand Splendid Suns.

ELA 9: Started working on Trickster stories: Wrote some notes and read "The Blindfold Dance" together. Started preparing for a group activity on the other Trickster stories - chose group and stories. Tomorrow we'll discuss the activity and you'll start working.

ELA A10: Had another Unsolved Mysteries presentation and spent the rest of the period working on your Independent Novel Studies. Tomorrow we'll have the last presentation, have a quick look back at the Guiding Questions for Unit I, and then you'll have a little more time to work on your Novel Study. Monday we will be starting Unit II.

CE 8: Last work period for your Unit 1 Collage, which is now for homework and due on Monday. Tomorrow we will be starting some activities for Advent - please make sure to bring your Bibles.

ELA B30: Work period for Global Social Issues Project - most people were finishing up their research. I am hoping that Thursday you will create your Glogs and Monday you will present. A Thousand Splendid Suns - I completed most of the one-on-one interviews about the novel. Tomorrow Chapters 35-40 are due. Don't forget about your essays!

ELA 9: Handed in Creation stories comparison/contrast paragraphs. Continued watching Brother Bear and answering questions - we will finish tomorrow and the rest of the period will be silent reading.

ELA A10: Last work period for Unsolved Mysteries Project - tomorrow the groups that are ready will present and after that (as well as Thursday's class) will be work time for your Independent Novel Study.

CE 8: Handed back 1.4 assignments, and then it was a work period for your Unit 1 Collage. You will get one more period tomorrow.
